|The Secret Coconut is a multifandom fanfic exchange
hosted at stseiya_fanfics
. Versailles no Bara
is one of our Featured Fandoms. :-)
All characters, pairings and genres are welcome. Fics only need to be 800 words long, but we accept--and love--longer stories as well.
Our fic exchange offers all participants the possibility to choose their own assignments, as long as they act fast when the prompt claiming phase begins. Please click here for more details, rules and the exchange's full schedule
. Then, click here to sign up and submit your prompts
. If you're curious, you can also click here to see what our participants have been requesting
. We already have some Versailles no Bara
prompts, but there's always room for more.
If you like the idea of exchanging fanfics with other Beru Bara
fans in a friendly environment, consider signing up for the Secret Coconut. Hope to see you there! ^__^
Today is Bastille Day. Have some links. Not necessarily anime/manga related, but I figure you've got to have some interest in French history if you like RoV.
Looking to sell the entire set of the series, ideally for $60 + shipping. Considering each DVD was a little over 3,000 yen each, it's a great deal. Japanese, no subs.
Payment through Paypal, comment or message if interested!
|» official Rose of Versailles Japanese postage stamps|
I just saw this pop up on Twitter - has anyone seen these before? Apparently the Japanese postal service has issued a set of Rose of Versailles stamps:|
they'll be available starting June 10th.
-- they're part of a series of popular anime stamps: http://www.post.japanpost.jp/kitte_hagaki/stamp/anime.html
I have to admit I think they're quite lovely! I'll do my best to buy this set and scan them in, I used to collect stamps as a kid and these designs are really pretty...
|» News: Anime Director Osamu Dezaki Passes Away|
The japanese director responsible for episodes 18-40 of Versailles no bara (Lady Oscar) passed away yesterday. According to common opinion, it was his direction that gave the ROV anime its edge.
Anime director Osamu Dezaki passed away at 12:35 a.m. on April 17 due to lung cancer. He was 67. A wake will be held on April 20, and a service will be held on April 21 in Tokyo. He is survived by his older brother Satoshi Dezaki, another anime director.
Among the many works Dezaki directed were Ace wo Nerae!, the Air film, Ashita no Joe, Bionic Six, Black Jack The Movie, the Clannad film, Ganba no Boken, Genji Monogatari Sennenki, Golgo 13: The Professional, Hajime Ningen Gyatoruz, Mighty Orbots, Nobody's Boy - Remi, The Rose of Versailles, The Snow Queen, Space Adventure Cobra, Takarajima (Treasure Island), episodes of Mighty Atom/Astro Boy, and several Lupin III television episodes and specials. He developed a unique style of direction that included dramatic freeze-frames, split-screens, and lighting effects in pivotal scenes.
He was born in Tokyo in 1943, and he debuted as a manga artist when he was still in high school. In 1963, he joined Mushi Productions, the studio founded by manga and anime pioneer Osamu Tezuka, and he made his directorial debut with Ashita no Joe in 1970. Dezaki and Masao Maruyama co-founded the anime studio MADHOUSE in 1972, and Dezaki and frequent character design collaborator Akio Sugino then co-founded Studio Annapuru.
After the poll and great discussions that came of it, I've been working relentlessly on launching a new community to the enjoyment of all of the RoV fandom. Therefore I will now proudly announce:
rov_regular is open!
What is this, you may ask. What is this new community?
Oh, it's a merry place. Besides a wide collection of "where to find" posts, it also hosts a grand introduction to Takarazuka's Rose of Versailles, including a list of every Berubara show they have staged to this date, not to mention a collection of reviews of the various performances.
In the wake of having collected easily accessible link lists for all canons of the series (minus the movies), the first icon challenge has already been started here, and when May arrives it will be joined by the monthly fanfiction challenge and the bi-weekly canon/historical meta discussions. Lots of fun to look forward to!
From the 1st of May, the community will also be the place of the monthly newsletter, but already now you can find a big compilation of past fandom material in "The OLD Newsletter" which is an entry that is open for links to any and all fandom activities (cosplay, fanfiction, icons/graphics, meta, etc.) that has been posted before the 1st of April this year. I have personally gone through the entirety of this community, 2004 until now, and linked to what I could find that was still working and valid. You can find these lists in the comments.
The newsletter is based on the idea of member participation, so if you're interested in keeping an eye out for new posts and news within the following categories (fanfiction, fanart, cosplay and icons/graphics), please check this post.
Your friendly, neighbourhood mods will be me (through my Rosalie-centric journal, 1i1ac) and polina_slosvau (though her Marie Antoinette-centric journal, ois3au_vivant). If you have any questions, concerns of comments after having looked around the community, these can be sent in PMs to either of us (1i1ac and ois3au_vivant), as comments to this entry or to whatever relevant entry you should choose in the community.
However, it's really just as easy as joining rov_regular and be ready for lots and lots of funtimes. We look forward to interacting with you. Regularly! :)
|» Fandom secret!|
Just wanted to let everyone know that today there was a Rose of Versailles fandomsecret over at fandomsecrets and it has already got a lot of attention. So let the fandom show itself and share your opinions, folk!
... I know the secret is a little harsh, but play nice, folks. We don't exactly want to make idiots of ourselves, just because someone else used the word first, now, do we? ♥
|» Community Activity|
What sort of activities would make you participate in the community more actively? Multiple selections possible.
I'm already as active as I want to be.
I'm no longer interested in this fandom.
Other (specify in comments)
What aspect of Berubara are you most invested in? One selection only.
Several (specify in comments)
None/Other (specify in comments)
I'm probably not the only one who's noticed that this community is rather... dead... at the moment. Perhaps I may not even be the only one who would like to see this change. Therefore I'm ready with a poll over different community activities that might kick the LJ Berubara fandom back into gear!
* Icon and fanfic challenges can be on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly basis, depending on user preference. I would imagine that it was all-inclusive, meaning that all aspects of the Berubara franchise would be welcomed; manga, anime, Takarazuka and movie-versions alike.
* History discussions would entail that an aspect of history, be it a specific place, a specific event or a specific historical person, was brought up for discussion, both in its own historical context, but also as to how it was represented in its Berubara context with differences and similarities, etc.
It could also be books, movies or documents that were either recommended to users who might not have read/watched them or/and discussed by the users who've read/watched them in regards to how it presented Versailles, the French Revolution or historical people who are present in the franchise with whatever comparisons users might want to bring to light.
I ask everyone to comment away on ideas, reactions and what else might be of help. Any questions should also be left in comments, and I will answer them as quickly I can - if I can. ;)
